The United States Army’s motto is “This we’ll defend.”  It is a motto known to me as a soldier in the Army.  It is a foundational pledge that reflects the core mission of guarding and protecting.  This is my mindset.  The people of Clayton County are worthy of having a protector.  A protector of the lives and property of its citizens.  I pledge that as your Sheriff, it will be my mission to ensure that all Clayton County citizens feel safe going to and from home, their property remains in their homes and businesses , their children are safe as they grow, our seniors can move around as they please and criminals fear coming here.  I will be relentless in this endeavor. 

Accountability is defined as the obligation or willingness of an individual or organization to accept responsibility for their actions, decisions, and results. This is paramount as the Sheriff. I will be accountable to the taxpayers to ensure monies for specific purposes, objectives and functions are spent as allocated. We all have seen the videos of the vandalism and destruction of the county jail. We must repair the infrastructure. I will inspect the damage, create plans of action that will detail what must be repaired immediately, what can be salvaged and reused such as non-damaged security locks and what we can do ourselves without asking for budgetary assistance. This is so we can meet our constitutional obligations to ensure the incarcerated are safe, secure, and in a clean environment.

Transparency will be the cornerstone of my administration. Information from your Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is a necessary asset to promote accountability. I will emphasize direct communication through the use of social media platforms and other forms of communication to our Clayton County citizens and taxpayers. It is my philosophical belief that the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office requires an informed citizenry to protect them and be held accountable by them.

Public safety begins with maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability within our Sheriff’s Office. As Sheriff, I will continue to hold ourselves to those standards every day ensuring our deputies are well-trained, disciplined, and prepared to serve our community with fairness and respect.

A strong sheriff’s office is built on trust, communication, and a commitment to serving every member of the community. I will continue working directly with residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations to build relationships and make sure their concerns are heard and addressed. Our main goal is to strengthen the partnerships that make our community safer and stronger.

The strength of a sheriff’s office starts with recruiting and retaining qualified, dedicated professionals who are committed to serving their community. We need to attract the best candidates, provide competitive opportunities, and invest in ongoing training so our deputies are prepared to meet the challenges of modern law enforcement.
